I use Hylomar in the spray can, Use it on all head gaskets. Good stuff, never had a problem. I had a Mack head that always would weep. I always put
the head gasket on dry. Last time I used Hylomar and it don't weep any
more good stuff. Permatex works also. Just my 2 bobs worth. Mark

Well I know every OEM manufacturer wont warrant any laminated head gasket that has had any form of sealant on it.
In a diesel you run the risk of pooling sealant or having it being forced inbetween the laminate sheets while being tensioned thru gallery ports.

The whole idea of a laminate gasket it that it compresses against itself and has crush points designed to provide higher sandwiching around galleries and the cylinder fire ring.
The only gasket that really does require a sealant is old Perkins type copper cased composite ones that are still made by AE Components.

Thats my 2 cents worth having been an OEM distributor for AE, Cherry, Stone and Ishikawa for a number of years.....

Yeah I'd go the spray can Hylomar. It won't "pool" as it's a thin coating. I think Rolss Royce use it from new?
