"Bus" is just too general to make an accurate diagnosis, but if it's a Series 1-mid2a Landy, the odometer and trip meter are driven by separate ratchet arms and one of these may be broken in some way. From mid 2a to the end of Series 3, they only use one ratchet arm and the trip meter is geared off the odometer. Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with anything newer, or with Range Rovers of the same vintage.

    Hope this helps.

As stated - if we had any idea what vehicle we are talking about it would help.

But the general answer is that it is almost certainly a problem with the speedo itself, probably only fixable by a specialist instrument repairer (and there are a few about).
