I will side with Rick on this.  They are a wear item and particularly so on 300s.
Ive only stripped 3, 300tdis down, all of them running 15/40.   ALL of them had serious slip bearing wear.  Engine hours/km were all over the place.
The "worst" was 25,000km after a rebuild with 3 oil changes of Castrol Diesel... 1 and 3 conrod/crank slips down to copper? Go figure. (pulled sump to fix leak - thought Id check the bearings) The other two had similar big end wear, both had 200ish km.
I dont think you can "judge" an oil unless you do analysis and/or on engine strip down.  Just cos it feels good, or doesnt use oil isnt really enough.
