    td5 diesel knock

I have had my Td5 discovery about 3 months now and had to fixed a few problems in the beginning but now its running great but the diesel nock appears to be excessive when you take off it sounds like all hell breaks loose I have heard other td5's take off at lights but dont seem half as loud as mine. are they normaly a loud motor or not if not were should I start looking.
Replaced fuel regulator twice. replaced injector loom, did the oil pump bolt even though it was tight.

No I took the acoustic cover off as the engine apeared to take a long time to cool down ( but never overheated) but the loudness was there before I took it off
its an auto and does take a few revs to take off the mark

check your mounts and your exhuast fittings, the sound of an engine can be "retransmitted" through the body work if you wind up with metal to metal contact to the bodywork/chassis.

What year is the vehicle? I have noticed a lot more knock and rattle with later (Post 03) Td5's. Maybe due to the fuel advance/ mapping. Tombie2 would be able to confirm this, as it is just an observation on my part.

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

Its a 2000 model and Iam confident that its diesel nock as I have owned a lot of diesel's over the years all the mountings through out the vehicle are in good condition therefore noise's are not being transmitted through the vehicle.
I was going to look at the waste gate on the weekend see if that has is working

My 1999 D2 TD5 gets a rattle up when cold but sliky smooth when warm so IMHO no they are not too noisy.

Another possibility is poor / incorrect grade fuel. My cousin used to run his on Jet A-1 as he got it from work, made i fair bit of knock, worst when cold

    Same here.

    But here's some further tips.

Keep the windows closed and turn the radio up a notch.

Then you can wonder why everyone looks at you as you drive down the street.

Mine is an 03, seems loud when it's cold under light load but once it's warmed up it's fine.
Like feral said, turn up the radio at great cure for any unwanted noise.
