    Defender Headlights

What this old chestnut ? Yep.

    I'm finally sick of them.

I'm planning to buy a Traxide "Defender Combo" loom upgrade but as my existing lights are sealed beam I'm not sure - do I need to replace the headlights at the same time ?

Ideally I'd like to run the existing ones till they break - then replace them with the sort (unsealed ?) that you can replace the bulbs in. That way I could fit the nice Phillips crystal vision bulbs that I had in the Rangie and loved.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

I haven't replaced a bulb yet, but I'm pretty sure the standard defender lights aren't sealed, so you can just replace the bulb and put a higher output bulb in. As you know you have to put the traxide kit in to save the switch...

The standard Defender headlights are an H4 hi/Lo halogen bulb. I thought all the 300Tdi's had this, but I must be wrong (my wife say's this happens quite frequently).

The easiest upgrade would be to replace the sealed beam's with newer halogen ones. You can then even put an HID kit in. The Traxide kit will improve the sealed beams and also the H4's and is worth it for just fitting a relay to the light circuit.
