I have used the dissy and electronic coil etc. from a 1994 -1999 (I think) Discovery for the last few years and it has been fantastic.
I run gas and have had no issues at all the one I have has the module on a piece of aluminum under the coil.
TRS in Adelaide will sell you one but they do come up on ebay a lot

Performance ignitions in Nunawading Vic, do a Modified Ford/Holden HEI unit for Discos for around $660, uses readily available Hold V8 Dizzy cap, the HEI modules are around $50 to replace. They call it a Scorcher Distributor, I've heard some really good things about it. Also they really know dizzy there.

I have a VS commodore style bosch Dizzy, that I used to use for my Rangie (replaced by coil packs) Parts avaliable everywhere, and cheap as chips.

No mech advance but, so only suitable for aftermarket ecu's (its for sale if anybodies keen....)

Easyest way is with the electronic set up from an 85 to 87 rangie with the modual mounted to the coil these are better than the later ones ...

Best and cheapest way is fitting a crane elect set up to your dizzy and using a larger 12 volt coil this is what i did and run a plug gap of .9 mm and it works a treat all up cost was just on 300 bucks tho they are more costly now for the crane 3000 and i used a MSD blaster coil
