Sticking Auto 1 to 2 change

My 2003 Dico witht he TD5 has developed a problem when acellerating hard, it does not like to change from 1st to 2nd and the engine "hunts" at just over 4000 to 4500 rpm..

I have to floor it to get into the traffic in the morning and this is really giving me the irrates. Its done 96,000 km we have had it since new and its allways been dealer serviced at MLR.

Any thoughts as to what might be happening ?

Don't know about sticky auto, but at these revs, I would say rev limiter

Not sure if these are the same as the old classic rangies but assuming everything else is fine I would be checking the cables and adjusting accordingly.
    I rule!!!

    2.4" of Pure FURY!!!

Start with simple things Owen, like checking trans fluid level, quality etc.
As these are no doubt electonically controlled, maybe check errors with that nanogadget everyone talks about...

Owen, the Airflow meter has an input into the trans shift points on the D2, as it detects engine load. I would also suggest it has a bit to do with the engine issues at 4000rpm

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

Thanks. Its a recent problem. I allways thought the idea of the auto was it did the changing for me.....the 4 sp manual on my 81 rangie is origonal and about 480,000 kms......this new stuff seems a bit weak.

I just got a response via another source. Suggestion is crap in the auto valve.....from disintegrating clutch pack.....change the oil and if it comes back, auto is on the way out was the response.....
