Coolant leak TD5 Anyone seen this before?

    Hi
Noticed a strange coolant leak this morning It is coming from the front LHS of the engine (looking forward) and only sems to drip when the engine is running. It seems to be coming out from behind a bracket bolt? Could this be?

Baz, fuel cooler is on RHS looking forward.

LHS looking forward could be water pump, if near the front of the engine or a hose (possibly the one hiding behind the turbo) if at the rear of the engine.

Seems to be at the front of the engine. When you look at the puddle on the drive it looks huge but it doesn't seem to be losing coolant.

Can't see any obvious hose issues just the wet area around the bracket bolt.

Has me buggered I can tell you!

That is leaking from behind that bracket, there is an O ring that seals between this bracket (which is the water pump, power steering and A/C support bracket) and the engine block. It is about an hours work without ACE, about 1.5hours with.
Get a genuine O ring, I can't remember the part number but it is easily obtainable.

Given the labour etc to replace this Oring, I'd be fitting a new water pump at the same time while the bracket is off, the genuine pumps aren't very $$$ at all.

    Excellent!

Thank you for this invaluable info. I thought I was going barmy here .
Almost like the Jed Calmpett and the oil situation. Water was appearing from nowhere.

Will get on this next weekend. Until then will keep up the coolant

    Thanks Heaps!!

After reading this thread i thought i would have a look at my TD5.
And yes mine is leaking in the same area.
Will be booking it in for a new water pump and o-ring.

why have you got green coolant in a td5?

td5s should be running the red organic acid technology (OAT) coolant which is more compatible with the metals in the cooling system......

if you do have the wrong coolant make sure you flush out all the old stuff.....
never mix the two coolants......and make sure the heater is turned on when flushing and bleeding the cooling system.........
    after doing the repairs......
