Thread: How to remove and replace rubber door protect strip

Just replaced a rear door on my DII. I have the original door and need to take the rubber external protect strip from it and put it on where I remove the second hand door's strip......

Any clues as to removing and gluing strip back.

In photo below, my original front door is wider, higher and has metallic strip in it, door to left is narrower and lower..... how to remove/replace without stuff ups??

the best way is with your fingers crossed.......


can you see if its held on with double sided tape......or some type of glue......



if its double sided tape.......you could try dissolving the glue by wetting the door above it with prepsol and letting it soak in.....
then slowly lifting the strip carefully......and with your fingers crossed.....the paint will remain on the door.....

sometimes you can be lucky....and they will come off just by pulling them.....


also.....its best done when its all hot.....ie. after sitting in the sun.....this softens things up......



if you get it off.....you stick it back again with double sided tape......but first clean both surfaces with prepsol........
