Thread: squeeking f/r wheel....gggrrrrrrr

1/ make sure its not low brake pads. Many have an annoying spot manufactured into them to cause a squeeek to let you know they are almost dead.

2/ Got enough lubricant?

3/ If you have replaced hub seals with the proper double lip OEM style, sometimes if not fiited correctly (ie. not pressed in far enough) the outer lip will be torn up, exposing the seal spring, causing a squeek. The lubricant will still be held in just the outer seal area will be shot.

Know you have plenty of lubricant etc but have you physically inspected the bearings?

Had a squeak from the f/l, took it to be pad inperfection, woe was me when the bearing collapsed, didn't hear the normal bearing rumble over the growling ZF, destroyed the hub & seal surface.

had it in to be checked ..and they came back with, we cant find the problem...and its a very common problem with the model......aparently.......i said that doesn't solve the problem ..and paid them 1/2 of there fee and was told promptly not to come back .... thats fine with me ....der!!..bloody wombats

Does the noise disappear with a light application of the brake? Maybe a sluggish caliper piston sealing rubber restricting return & allowing partial pad contact.

yes, when your driving it is intermittent... give it a slight pull to the left or right or tap the breaks and it goes away sometime for a a while and sometimes only for a second

Sounds like minimual wheel bearing play.

Jack her up, hands at 6 o'clock on the wheel & try for even the slightest movement, it takes very little for the disc to contact the pad.

If so adjust bearing, would suggest if you have not had it apart recently that you do so, clean, inspect, (replace if there is any evidence of pitting on the rollers or any shiny flakes on the carrier cage) & repack, always fit new seals.
