D1 kick down cable
Been having trouble in my 96 tdi auto. It hasn't wanted to change up through the gears unless you plant the foot. Took it to an automatic specialist. He took it for a drive and was thinking it was in bad shape. Got back to workshop and he found the kick down cable was stuck. Which meant the auto thought I had my foot down hard.
I was happy thinking it was only a cable. Price for cable $240 fitted with service $650. Not happy any more. Does anyone know the price of these cables. He told me non genuine was junk. Is it possible for a short cable to be that sort of price.
Thanks Gary

I would of thought some one would have made a comment even if it was just to say pull you head in and pay the money.

I think the cable was about $50 from karcraft last time i got one. I have changed 2, and they are not that hard, took about an hour.
drain the oil,
remove the pan,
remove the bottom of the valve body (cap screws i think) and be very very careful not to drop any of the little balls in there. Then you can get at the gearbox end of the cable.
the engine side is straight foward.
Any problems see the rave cd for diagrams.
