Part numbers for +2" Bilstein Shocks

    Hi,

Does anyone have the part numbers available for the +2" Billies for classic rangies and discos? Or are they a nissan shock or similar?

    Cheers

I've had good results with long travel Bilsteins, garden variety too.

They're Landcruiser 80 series - the mounts for front match up, in the rear the shock runs upside down. With Bilstein it doesn't matter which way is up.

You'll find there are two part nos for the front of 80 series landcrushers. One is simply standard, the other suits bullbar etc - slightly heavier vehicle.

    Regards

    shocks

Thanks very much for that info.
I was actually looking at 80 series units and was unsure...
    Valving seem OK control wise?

    Thanks once again.

Koni 80 Series fronts (82-2385) have quite a bit more travel than equivalent Billies, and OME N73 and N73L are better again.
Rebound is excellent with 220lb front springs. I reduced low speed bump a little.
All of them you will have to raise the towers somewhat.

    shocks

    Hi Rick,

    Thanks also.

That info for the shocks has a few errors though. I used to work at ARB and still have the 'suspension bible' from there, the N115/N44 OME shocks are near enough to the same length as the std Land rover shocks, and the N73 shock is 614mm extended and 354mm closed, the only thing I can think of is that the linked info uses the overall length of pins and eyes for their N73 measurement of 660mm extended.

I am thus a bit sceptical to the accuracy of the other numbers quoted.

I am basically looking for a shock with the right valving characteristics similar mountings to std but 50-75mm longer in extended length to suit my applications.

    Thanks

    Giles

Most of the Koni numbers are correct as they are mine converted to imperial or as supplied to me from Proven Products and Toperformance.
Also have some Koni Raid #'s but I reckon it's cheaper to go with a number of race shocks than the Raid, except it is a straight bolt up.
Yep, always thought the N73 was pretty close to the 82-2385 in open length. What's the N73L's #'s ??

<edit> Drop John an email with the corrections for the OME ones, I'm sure he would appreciate it. He only emailed me last week with some q's on some oil data to include on the MTF list he has.

I have some LR figures here too somewhere from ones I have measured up.
