I got one of the Dataron sensors fitted to my 130 TD5
It just beeps once as you turn on the ignition to let you know its working
And suposedly beeps like hell if the water in the expansion tank fall below the level.

Dont know why you actually need to see temp. depending where the temp sensor would be fitted if you loose water it might not even read properly!

From the description, the temp sensor is bolted on the engine block and you cannot actually see the temp, it just beeps once it reach your set temp setting.
So should I get one with temp sensor or not?

I have one of the new ones fitted to my Disco and it reads and displays temperature. It alarms when it exceeds your set point AND also will give a different alarm when it detects a loss of coolant.It does two jobs.

Where did u get yours? How much are they?

I have one from one of the sponsers of this site fitted to my Td5 fender the only problem i have is when parked on a steep incline and i mean steep up the bush it goes off after the motor is restarted for about 30 sec,s and untill the systerm starts pumping the coolant through

When you think about it for the sake of a couple of hundred it could save you thousands. That why I bought mine, a low coolant alarm to tell me when I don't have any. And with reference to PAT303; an Engine Temp alarm in case the thermostat fails to open and cooks the motor inside out

$275 for the latest kit!! I just dont see the value for money for what you get. Yes I know it can save cooking your donk, BUT, that is not my point...... As an engineer, I think a more realistic cost is 50-100 beer coupons. There aint much to this kit. A sensor (cost - not much), wire (cost - bugger all), an alarm speaker (cost - few bucks), and a temp gauge (few bucks again - is it calibrated???) ....how that add up to 275, sure beats me..

There is always a critic , There are such a things as over heads and there could also be out sourcing invovled and other expsences! .
I say build one and market it your self before you knock someone else,s idea,
