    Replaceing oil cooler hoses - what should I expect?

    Hi,
    I plan on replacing the hoses that run from the engine block to the oil cooler over the weekend.
    I'm hoping this will be an easy 1/2 hr job. Are there any special tools required, bits I should take off first, or general pitfalls I should watch out for?

    Its pretty straightforward, just remove the oil filter to get easier access. And dont forget to refit the O rings.

    How likely is it that I'll drain the oil pump when I remove the oil filter and have to prime the pump to get it working again?

    I read that it can sometimes be an issue on the V8

    Yep Don't over tighten the hoses ends to the oil pump, I accidently did and cost me a new timing cover. Later models Discos had the oil pump with the timing cover as a unit
