hi all,ive got a 98 series 1 disco v8 auto.after dragging a hilux and a courier up a steep muddy rutted hill....lol i switched off the motor and removed the snatch strap, when i went to start it again, the red flashing alarm light was on solid red and there was a warning light on the dash of a red flashing car with a key..next to the battery warning light.the car would not start....i started it at the starter motor and got home again...it still would not start via the key...nor will the central locking work with the keyring switch. ive never seen the warning light before and was wondering if anyone has encountered the same problem.... cheers.
awesome,i had a sneeking suspicion that it could be that simple,i checked the fuses but they're all good!il replace the batt in the fob and hopefully il be back on the road!! thanks alot!!! p.s. i dont think i have the EKA code unless its in the factory folder in the glovebox..
The orig owner would have been given it - hopefully they may have recorded it in the handbook, if not if you pm scouse with the vin etc he may be able to look it up for you next week, or you could contact the orig selling dealer (if they still exist)
If you hav ethe code it is the sequence of key turns to be performed in the drivers key slot to enable access and start with a non-functioning fob
In addition, if it's a V8, I understand there can be a problem with the engine bay inertia switch (do a search on this site)
If I were you I would be getting a spider fitted to bypass the immobiliser they are renowned for becoming sensitive on the disco's and failing.
but I agree with the above probably just your battery flat....I have a dodgy fob where every couple of months we have to take it apart and re solder the inside I always no when its going as the indicators fail to flash as I dont think it gets enough power from the battery to send a full signal to the car its sends enough to unlock it eventually...but not to flash the lights
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
phew!!It was just the fob battery,as good as new now!! im so glad it was that simple i had a bad sinking feeling when it didnt start in the bush as the old girl has never let me down and i really dont want to start having electrical issues!!!
The inertia switch has been an issue when hitting a large pothole at speed, the hazards start flashing and i have to turn the ignition off to stop them but that is no drama. thanks everyone for your invaluable help!!il check out the spider and maby get it fitted to avoid any future issues!
But not an issue after all. have you been in the WAR with this?
Glad my immobilizer is disconnected.
