its similar to the burring that ocours on the output shaft of the lt77/85/r380 and the input gear of the lt230. (and for that matter on the engagement collar of the lt230's diff)

it happens if you drive locked on a high traction surface while turning or if the lock fails to disengage due to windup and you get it onto the black top.

    Generally speaking

the symptoms you describe require removal of the diff for investigation...

the burred spline is worst case

    the failed seal is best.

broken return spring in the middle .

I have had an encounter with an ARB diff, 3 years old that was replaced FOC with spline damage.

just to be daft how do you know its the front locker thats sticking?

if you're only lifting one wheel and you've left it in park/gear its not going to turn anyway.

In reverse and turning right hand down when i stop to go forward there has been a banging noise(loud). When i do a u bolt it squeels the tyres and is hard to turn.

No problem ringing Jeff but i would like to know whats wrong first.

I have the diff out and it is jammed. The air is trying to lock mit but it won't budge so it must be locked in a bit. Will get my brother to have a look tomorrow as he is a mechanic and i have very little idea.
