    Td5 accelerator switch/nanocom

I have an ongoing problem that I just cannot sort.

    Basic symptoms are this;
Engine runs lumpy from cold. Slight increase in revs [ to just above tick over] and nanocom shows cylinder balance all over the shop.

This improves as engine warms. But still well down on power.

But what I have noticed is that with ignition on, but engine not running, accelerator SW 1 & SW 2 increase/decrease about right- and SW 3 roughly follows SW 2. This I believe correct.

However, with engine running, SW 1 & SW 2 seem working OK- but SW 3 is virtually static at around 4.613 v

The switch input is 5 v.

I have no faults logged. Regards Tony

According to the graph of voltages in the manual the 3 track/pot should remain constant at around 4.6 to 4.7 volts until the pedal angle reaches about 5°. Unlike tracks 1 and 2 which change immediately as the pedal angle changes. Also it has a slightly steeper angle on the graphline so it would be normal not match pot 1 voltage. They should only read the same when the pedal angle is at 20°.

Track 1 and 2 are used to control the engine speed. Track 3 is used to improve throttle pedal angle resolution. The important thing is that 1 and 2 add up to 5.0v

    Thanks Ray,
Everything seems to be doing exactly as you say- with the engine not running.

But when running track 3 does not alter.

    Hi Tony
Get Nannocom to read your injector codes.
Are they all listed as the same by any chance????
Mine were, since correcting them it is much smoother from startup and pulls stronger from lower revs.
Let us know what it says.

    Andrew,
    Nanocom shows my injectors as;

    NG GB 3-G-A
    BE GF 4-H-*
    NL GD 6-K-*
    NB LD 5-J-*
    NN LN 5-J-*

Have yet to check if this ties up with what is actually fitted.

Still can't quite get off base with this acc. switch issue.

    Hi Tony
Mine sounds like yours. For the sake of an hour taking the rocker cover off it could well be worth looking into the injector codes.Having the correct codes has changed the driveability of mine no end.Cant wait to get my chipped ECU back!!!
Have you ever had "Oil in the harness".It seems to effect most Aussie TD5s.We get oil leaking from the red plug on the ECU.This will mess with the throttle pot,but ususaly also throws lots of strange fault codes at the same time.

Checked the red plug today. Bone dry and clean.

Took the top of to check the actual injector codes.Strange this.

Refer to my nanocom report below- what is actually marked is-

NGGBG with a 1 stamped nearby
    BEGFH " 1
    NLGDK " 3
    NBLDJ " 4
    NNLNJ " 2

Checked the harness plug at the head- very slightly moist.

    I'm totally stumped.
