LT95 and T/case stuck in nuetral

I am restoring a series3 stage 1 ute very slowly the transfer case is locked in neutral I have read previously that the vac lines can cause this can someone run through exactly what is positioned where or any other ideas what may be causing this problem?
    Thanks in advance

The vacuum only operates the diff lock, so if it is stuck in neutral that won't be it.

The high - neutral - low lever sticks out of the front of the seat box, but the linkage inside of the box has a couple of places where a loose clamp bolt could stop it doing anything. Then there is the possibility that there is something really wrong with the transfer case, although they rarely fail completely.

Best bet is get hold of a diagram of how it works (see Rave CD in shop, top bar above) - I'm not sure whether this covers the Stage 1 but the same box is in the four speed Rangerovers and 110s. You could also drain the oil and take the bottom cover plate off to get a look at what is happening (or not happening).

    Hope this helps,

There's a little plastic thingamabob in there that's a spacer to keep the high-low selector shaft from sliding back and forth. They seem to disappear and then the selector comes out of the bit it engages with. Try moving the lever to the left and right and see if you can get it to engage. If you can get to it, there's a coverplate right there so you could take it off and have a look.
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.
