The housing has a hole, I'd replace the housing, that way can can sell the maxi complete
The Maxi will either have Version 1, 28 spline axles, the end of the cap is round or Version 2, 24 spline axles, the end of the cap is Hex
How hard would it to convert a rangie with a rear maxi drive locker to an ARB locker? Doesnt the maxi drive require a hole to be cut into the housing for the actuating mechanism? Would this just be welded over or would you have to source a new axles housing?
Also, I presume the maxi drive would mate up to the standard axles and therefore be 10 spline? Can you mod the maxi to take 24 spline axles?
I was planning on doing a full toyota conversion. Would it be too fiddly to have to replace the maxi?

Why do you want to change it to the ARB? I'm not convinced they are any stronger or more reliable as Matt said they either 28 spline(Holden gears) in MD1 or 24 spline with in house gears. Either set up will need uprated axles anyway.
Mainly cause I would want to put in a front locker and dont want to run different setups. I also want to change the diff ratios also. Is this possible with the maxi?
Angus
I was wanting to go the toy setup to avoid having to stick with the rover type CWP. Hmm...
Angus
Diff ratios are very interchange able with Maxi,ARB etc.
I think running two setups would be good as a back up. Maxi rear on vacuum that rarely stuff up and a ARB air locker front that rely on a 12V compressor and have bits of copper tube etc. If one fails you likely will still have one working. I'm setting my 120" up this way for this reason + will have some air for pumping up tyres here in the field.
Cheers mate. This has got me thinking now...
