300 tdi head i stuffed up help

hi all need some advive just had the head done on my 300tdi all went well
replaced the head tensioned it down replaced rocker gear
    but i stuffed up
didnt put thermostat housing on first now i can get all bolts in except for bottom left it hits on the water pump housing.
any ideas would be appreciated cant decide if i have to remove the head or the water pump housing or is there a alternative to that bolt it looks like its the head of the bolt causing the problem any feed back appreciated .

Fear not - it's been done before. the housing bottom left is slotted so you can put the bolt in first, and then the housing ( ie you can swap it over without taking everything off) and then do the bolt up. The drawback is that the bolt can only be tightened with a small spanner, and you may want to remove the temperature sender.

bolt dont wanna go in. the head of the bolt hits on the water pump housing not giving enough room for thread to catch.
cant figure why they would make it so one would be like that
    regards david.

The only thing I can think of is that there has been a mix up in bolts for the thermo housing. Try taking one of the bolts out of the lifting hook and see if it's short enough.
