Unhappy What are the advantages of replacing the head for a new one on a 300tdi disco???

Currently my disco is getting a new head put on and new valves after finding out the one i had has a few cracks in it and the valves are shot.
I'm pretty much just trying to make myself feel better for spending $3,500 to get the job done and just wanted to know the good outcome's of fitting a new one.

    cheers simon.

I would look at why it happened in the first place, were the valves burnt or had chips in them?.You don't want to do it twice. Pat

LOL well i hope so after paying that sort of money!!!!!

But obviously she'll be running better than before. Thing that i was worried about most was that she was smoking alot, i know the whole start up situation but when she idle's at the lights she smokes quite abit so i dont know if the head was the main problem or is it something else???

Mate trust me when i say "Its a longggg story" check out my other post Major prob's After Major service but its realy hard to tell what caused it??

A month prior this all happening i went on the Otways trip #2 where i had no problems what so ever until i got home. Basicaly changed the water pump, new altinator, new battery and just my suspension. Still after all that i had no over heating issues, water loss or oil loss and everything seemed fine. Now the spanner working on my car right now says that the heads where cracked for some time and the gasket **** its self. So its really hard to pinpoint where it all started.

Bad run Joker for sure. You were blowing a lot of smoke on the trip mate i thought the turbo might have been shot.

It is a lot of dough and you sure don't need it at the moment. But once fixed you will soon forget(until something else breaks).
Hope all goes well for you
