my td5 2000 model leaks too was quoted 750.00 dollars to fix is that good
I have the same issue in my D1, i have attempted to fix it 3 times. the first to were a waste of time as i replaced the wrong seal, the third time Langy helped me and it stayed dry for about 18months. Its not a big deal you just need to make sure you check the transfer case oil level and the transmission level depending on which seal is leaking. Matt

I was told my transfer case leak was part of the rust protection.. suppose i'd better check those bolts if it isn't!
Cheers for the info re the bolts
That sounds about right from a dealer. I was quoted $800 for my leak.
My leak currently doesn't leave any puddles or spots on the ground and seems like a very slow seep from somewhere. I suspect the cover plate and front and rear seals.
Given it's so slow, I'm collecting as much info as possible to see if I can repair it all myself over a weekend and topping up every now and then.
Have spotted a 2003 disco 2. TD5. 166000k. For sale. A i right in understanding a bit of oil from the transfer case is common (if not preferred) and not unusual/unexpected/deal breaker - some refer to it as confirmation the case is not empty! Any comments from experience.
