Thanks one & all for your ideas & advice. Will keep with the 186 theme. In an ideal world a bit more grunt wouldn`t go astray. But being realistic i don`t need the extra grunt any more.Been there a few times in my forty years of driving.Been very lucky mechanically for probably the last twenty five.Lucked out this time because i jumped too quickly in buying this truck.I still believe that it`s worth it. What! are you crazy? (Little voice in the back of my head.)Didn`t answer it so i guess i`m ok.Anyways, gotta get it up & running so i can hitch my teardrop to it.Once again, thanks all. cheers gordon

The trouble I had was the engine did not want to just idle along it wanted to rev, when people talk of doing and engine up it usually means hotting it up which is what I did and it doesn't work.I wouldn't worry about the gearbox, they are tougher than you think.
