I had a clonk coming from under tha car...even though bushes seemed ok changed them and clonk gone...
my first guess though was going to be shock!
but we could do with more detail does it do it when your sterring left or right. could be a seized tie rod....
Have you checked your steering damper?

If its not bushes
Then i would say body mount / chassis mount. Either has cracked and mount is loose.
Over the 7 years I had a disco i welded and re-welded the back 4 and front 2 mounts twice... that cheezy floor pan doesnt really like overloading! And the chassis mounts also seem to stress crack, especially the back two.

Loose spare wheel or spare wheel mount?
Does it irrespective of direction the steering wheels are pointed. Generally when you go over a pot hole, as the rear wheels drop into the pot hole the "Clonk" occurs.Quote:

I have the same clonk! Smooth roads no worries, dirt track, clonk, clonk, clonkity. I thought it was the rear door, then the end cap of the rear bar...
If I find it I'll let you know!
Have you tried bouncing up and down on the back of the car while the car is parked?
If it is a shock it should cause it to "clonk";)
Something loose inside the rear door?
Like the wiper motor.
