if you have one big enough they can be pushed in with a suitabley sized thin wall deep reach socket.
failing that if your doing it with the shaft still in place a deburred piece of 2mm wall tubing with the end rounded is a good thing.

Thanks Blknight. After some further phone calls it has been decided to swap out the whole steering box. While getting the drop arm off wasn't difficult with the right puller, I decided to err on the side of caution as the box hadn't been looked at by the previous owner(s) and I really don't want to have to risk doing another seal if there was a problem further in. Apart from that an overhauled steering box isn't that much cheaper than a new one So today I'll fit the new one and my weekend won't be a disappointment having to drive the other car. ...
