but providing you have the bottom drive lt95 pto if you look at it from the back of the tcase it (the pto plate) has a large nut with a covering part. Inside that bit is where the overload sprag sits.

you'll know it when you hear it work, most people thing their tcase is trying to climb up through the seat box to lunch upon their joy departments.
I have to do a bit of servicing on my county this morning so I will get a couple of photos of the underneath pto drive while I am at it.

Here's a couple of pics of the underslung PTO that fits onto the bottom of the T/Case of the LT95. The bulge on the rear is the torque limiter housing.

When I installed the PTO winch on my defer, i spoke to the bloke at maxi drive who reccommended a 6mm brass bolt as the shear pin.

    Cheers

    I'm confused
Do the lt95 PTO'S have this shear pin as well?
Or is it just the defer/lt230?

    Thanks in advance....TIM.

The LT95 Thomas PTO winch that is on Counties & Rangies ( rare) has its shear pin in the first Uni joint collar pointing forwards from the gearbox. Its a brass pin & from memory I've bent one & it was almost impossible to remove then. You can identify it as there is a hole in the collar. If it shears, then it free wheels so replacing it is easy.
Getting to it when you are bogged might mean shifting a few tonnes of mud though

can be on either side dependin on who did the install.

lt95 bottom drives dont need it but some have the pin on the winch side.

Shouldn't the shear pin from factory be copper, not brass?
Also make sure that the universal which houses the shear pin can spin on the pto shaft freely, with the shear pin removed.I've come across one where it was too tight to spin by hand (with no shear pin at all).If it's tight then the
shear pin won't be able to do it's job properly. As for putting anything tougher than brass in there you're asking for trouble,Off the top of my head I've bent winch main shafts, broken cables and destroyed the brass gear in the winch too.Mind you I was testing mine to destruction in search of making it stronger but gave up on the worm style winch, they don't like high rpm.
    Cheers Eric.
