how old are the flanges?? pretty sure the maxi flanges are/were all now produced with the recess to stop this issue....well they were when i tried to buy the buisness 2 years ago.
cheers phil
Well I've had the Rangie Vogue wheels on the county for a few months now. Loads of firewood, rubbish, towing the boat, four wheel driving etc etc.
Guess what. They dont fit properly
This is what I had to do to remove them.
If I had a flat somewhere I would never had been able to get them off.
The problem is that the maxi flange is not recessed like the standard Deefender/ County flange. It turns out I had press fitted them on, & the flange bolts stopped them going up to the hub by about a matched thickness.
Here is the alloy wheel looking from the inside.
THe 5 shiny bits are from the maxi flange, as below.
You can see there is mud on the hub where the wheel should have been flush. Also the wheel studs are not fully engaged The alloy Rangie wheels were actually sitting tight against the 5 bolt heads on the hub instead of the face of the hub.
You can see on this wheel where the 5 bolt heads were rubbing.
It would have been interesting having a wheel breaking off coming down mt Slide from Kinglake last weekend. There was about a tonne of wood loaded up .

Does this hold for disco alloys too? Presuming only the spokes are different between the different styles with a common centre and rim.
does any one know if RR whells will fit a series 3?
Phil is right they did redsign them to stop them fouling I have some on the rear of my disco (older style ) and they were tight on my disco alloys....they were ok but they were tight. I now have steels so not a problem![]()
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
Mine must be smaller coz they fit ok, although the centre cap doesn't fit. Wheel looks similar inside.
