There has been a lot of discussion on TDI alt replacements but i'm pretty sure there is nothing that will bolt in even close that is off the shelf, Denso units are available ex UK pretty cheap even after postage.

The Denso ones are MM/Lucas ones anyway.

The local Auto leccy wholesalers stock them, the OEX numbers are MXA 831 and Baxters 63321347

AFAIK no Bosch one will go anywhere near fitting, the mounting side, pivot hole length, foot to foot length, pivot hole diam. just don't compute.

Another OEX # I have written down is for a Ford Transit, MXA 828, and apparently a Mondeo one fits too. Use the Transit with caution, I don't have any mounting dimensions in my notes. It is rated @ 100amps.

I'd order 1 from the UK, they are only around 50 quid plus postage so should get 1 landed for about $160-180.

I fitted a 100amp dunnydoor Bosch unit to my 300TDI, but it was a lot of mucking around. Did it at the same time as bypassing the centre fan hub (bearing failed and couldn't be stuffed spending the money to b uy a new cover) and went to electric fans.

Dunno how to post pics tho.......

Frank, if you want new, check out the Baxters website. I think I paid about $330 trade about 18 months ago.

I did a rebuild on another about 6 months ago - a fiddly @#$@ of a job to dismantle and replace bearings worth $8!

Go TRS/AMV/etc - any of the bigger dismantlers will have a good 'un.

Loanrangie, would you have a UK address, web/site or the name of any suppliers overseas, I'll give them a go if I can't sort something here, Regards Frank.
