Rear drive shaft to diff oil seal change.
Hi ,
I have a small oil leak from my rear Diff (Spigot seal) on a series 1 DISCO 300 TDI I just wanted to know of any pit falls with changing this seal such as the removal of the rear drive shaft .
I am going to mark the position of the shaft before removal but is there anything to be wary of ,the book says mark the shaft undo bolts remove shaft , but is there any diff bearing pre load to take in to consideration .
Regards Jon.

Firstly, I hope you have a 4 bolt flange & not 3 (with the rubber coupling) as the centreing pin is very tight.
Mark the position of the nut on the pinion so you can get it to the same torque as it was originally. You can't really go wrong that way.

A slide hammer with I think M8 thread will pull the centre pin out.
The one I worked on wasn't difficult at all to remove with the above slide hammer.
