    Ashcroft Crown & Pinion Questions

I am yet to contact Ashcroft about my queries, but I intend to.

I just received a pair of 4.11 C&P sets for my Rangy Classic.
I assumed they would have supplied a reverse cut set to suit the front rotation?
Have they stuffed up and sent me 2 standard cut sets or don't they make reverse cuts C&P sets?

Secondly one of the pinions has a nice little nick missing from the trailing edge of one tooth. Am I being picky, is this anything to worry about is is it fairly normal?

    Woops didn't realise that.

I wanted to find out more before asking them possible dumb questions. They have a great reputation so I wanted to get all my **** in a pile before asking them. I'm prettty sure the nick in the tooth is normal, cause the other Pinion has a similar nick only smaller. I'm not too worried about the reverse cut thing. I think it's makes a marked difference in a Hypoid design. These Ashcroft pieces of kit and much thicker and deeper teeth to the standard rover C&P, and I never had an issue with them. I got these gears for the ratio not the strength after all.

I would be notifying them anyways mate.
Its better to ask a silly question then not ask at all.

Also wouldnt hurt to get an installers opinion before hand.

Either way being Ashcroft I am sure they will sort it out or be fine as is.

Also reverse cut ads a slight amount of strength but as you mentioned if your happy with the strength of the 3.54s and you dont intend on running huge rubber you should be fine.

    Best of luck.

    Contacted Dave at Ashcroft.

    They don't do reverse cut 4.11 C & P gears.

The tooth damage is from the retarded baggage haddlers, and retarded freight companies. Don't get me started on those mongrels. ..
Anyway Dave says they are good to go, so that's good enough for me.

The old girl should pull like a train of the lights with the standard 29's..

Yeah with no load she will rev a little hard and use a bit more fuel.
Around town it should be roughly the same, maybe even better on fuel.
Usually get 14L per 100km with no load at 100 kph.

Most of our highway driving is with full load and 32's. That's when it will pay off.
