As I said its only a story :p but even still I would think it's not a bad idea to isolate it.
A key type isolator seems the easiest way and I might fit one of the fuses too

Aside from the idea of someone getting the chop, it seems far better reasons to have an isolating switch have been mentioned: protection of the batteries, protection against the risk of fire, that kind of thing. And of course, for it to act as a kill switch in an emergency.

I installed a 4 position marine switch and my mate installed a 2 position switch from traxide.
relays.
I put the 4 position switch in so that I can tie both batteries in case I have to jumps start, or I can supply winch from one or both batteries.
Mate reckons over kill he just put in the 2 position.
