    Engine stopped

Hi there, I'm the proud new owner of a 2003-4 Diso 2 td5 auto. Had it a few weeks and no problems until today.

Started up normally, drove only 2km, stopped, locked up, then came back to car a few mins later. Used the normal start procedure, ignition on until glow plug light went out, then start. Engine started first kick, as it always does. But then, only a second later, engine stopped. Tried to restart, cranked at good speed, but no start. Tried this twice, no go.

Then removed key, waited a few seconds, then repeated whole procedure. Voila! Started normally, idled normally, drove home no dramas.

Anyone know if this is a common thing or a sign of something more serious?

I have heard in the UK with some issues where certain things upset the central locking, not sure if these have an immobiliser, im sure they do, which is linked to the central locking. Its possible, similar symptoms. If that isnt the problem, sounds like its an ignition based problem of some kind. Could be a computer software glitch.

I had a commodore that did that when i parked next to an LPG cylinder at work. I parked on the other side of the carpark and never had an issue again.

    G'day,
I've herd that some shop alarms use the same radio waves as Land Rover.
You didn't mention where you stoped but it's just a thought.
It's on a thread here some where but you'd have to search a few channels.

    Cheers.

    Hi e3j,

I have had the same problem on a few occasions. Mine is a Disco 99my TD5 which i have had for 6 years & its happened about 5 times, I get out lock the car & then open using the remote & she fires straight away. So I dont think there is any problem at all.

    Steve
