Who hasn't had a power steering leak?

If like me you've tried many things to try and fix with limited results. The leak got that bad that I had to top up the fluid every 3-4 months when the pump would start to growl. Then a mate told me a simple fix. 1-2 capfuls of BRAKE FLUID into the reseviour would you believe. I was at the stage of having to do an overhaul of the box so I thought what the heck I'll give it a try. Couple of weeks later the leak took up. 6 months later it just started to weep again so another capful and it went. That was about 3 years ago and all is still going well.

The reason it works, we think, is that brake fluid is a hydraulic fluid and is really good for the rubbers and seals and must soften them up to seal again.

Of course it won't fix worn shafts or cracked seals etc but does seem to give new life to seals.

Hope this helps someone else.

Les.
