    no go disco

    Allrighty then, any ideas appreciated.

I have a 1998 3.9 v8 Discovery. I have spark, I have fuel I have air. Compression is fine. The old girl won't start. Drove it one day no probs, wouldn't start the next morning. The central locking and alarm system stopped working a week previously but the vehicle still drove fine. Distributer cap and rotor button are a couple of weeks old. I have swapped the central locking/alarm module and this made no difference.

Have you been near any water or mud of late?
(Silly question, I know the answer).

When Chops's got water in the dizzy it took alot of drying.
Have you looked in the electronics of the dizzy?
His had spark but wouldn't fire till we cleaned the cap 7-8 times.Lot of CRC and a rag.

    Cheers.

if ya had prob's with the alarm/central locking maybe your immobilizer is playing up. sounds like it if everything else seems fine.

Isn't there some sort of switch on the fire wall that can cause the fuel to stop pumping or similar.

the actual immobiliser may need to be bypassed if that is the case a new fob isn't going to fix your prob's, thats if that is whats playing up....when you turn the key do you get all the lights up on the dash and then nothing?

the other thing is it might be your starter...did you drown that as well? you checked all your connectors etc perhaps they have crud in them
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

Was the new dizzy cap and rotor branded "Lucas"?
If cheapo fakes this can cause no go, particularly the rotor.
    Try the old ones.

oK, its not the immobilizer, the vehicle was running fine for about two weeks with the current rotor button and dizzy cap. I drove the car home after picking the rug rats up from school, it sat for about 3 days then would not not start. I think it has to be electrical. I have spark, I have fuel. I have a spare ecu so I will try that, if that doesn't work I guess it's time to go digging for the spider thingy. It's ironic you know, the cab filled with water to the steering column about a year ago and the electrics recovered without a problem. I'm thinking getting an older one with less elctrics. Does anyone know if the 94 models have less computers?
