    groove in timing cover

I have just pulled the timing cover off my 95 v8 disco and found there to be a groove on the inside of the cover from the timing chain.

    Is this a problem?

Not if you fit a new timing chain.

just had a better look - couldn't finish it last night as I had a bucks night to go to.
I have had the engine rebuilt in the past cause 3.9 wasn't enough. Since then I have never found any filings in the oil. The timing chain doesn't appear to be worn at all so I expect this is old wear.

Unless I am mistaken that is a double row timing chain,
These come with instructions to grind clearance into the timing cover, as posted recently.
