Thread: removing a transfer case

hey

im trying to remove the transfer case from my 89 RRC, so far no luck as i dont have a workshop manual for guidance. can i remove the transfer case by itself or do i have to remove the whole gearbox/bellhousing in one.

i tried to disconect it where it bolts onto the back of the gearbox but found ther to be a shaft that runs into the T/C, then tried to open the T/C while still on the gearbox, cant find any more bolts holding it together but it wont come apart maybe its the shaft between the front and rear propshaft flanges.

any help would be appreciated as im rather confused
