Question Parts for Discovery 300 TDI

I need to replace a rear shock on my Disco as there is evidence of an oil leak. This being the case I thought it would be a good time to do springs and shocks all round. I live in Brisbane and would like to get some recommendations for the best place to get these parts. I do not want to raise the suspension as I mainly use the vehicle to tow my caravan. Any advice would be gratefully received.

    Many thanks
    Allan

I recently bought 2 sets of springs and dampers from www.suspensionstuff.com

They were lifted, but he also sells standard ride height stuff.

Ditto - I recently got a set of shocks from him, all good. Just remember to get a full set of rubbers and washers.

Another vote for SuspensionStuff. I got Dobinsons lifted springs, but Shane was very thorough in the questions he asked about what driving I did, towing etc.

Give him a call and have a chat - he's a very helpful bloke to deal with.

    Hi Fly,

Unless the original springs are sagged or you're carrying a load that sits them down too much a lot of time, then why not just get new dampers? I'm very happy with the Bilsteins I fitted some yeas ago. Got them from Fulcrum on the Brisbane southside, as I recall.

That said, our original springs were a bit sagged at 180,000 km (and much towing), so I fitted Lovells HD springs - very good, not too stiff, nice compliant ride. Sits just a tad higher than standard when unloaded, maybe 15-20 mm.

We tow a lot and have a semi-permanent load of 200-odd kg behind the cargo barrier, so I also run Airlift air springs in the back at low pressure (6-7 psi). We use a Hayman-Reese WD hitch for towing and all sits level and tows very nicely.
