    Which coolant to use?

Antifreeze/antiboil contains glycol which is sugar based. Over time glycol crystallises and deposits on the inside of the radiator. This causes a slight blockage which is pretty much undetectable, but it also creates an insulation effect. A 5% blockage will cause about a 25% loss of cooling. Also glycol artificialy raises the boiling temp which can create problems like blown head gaskets. Here in Aust. we dont normally get cold enough to require antifreeze except if yuou are staying in alpine areas for an extended period. Tectaloy make a carrosion inhibitor that is suitable for all types of cooling systems and is available from Repco. If you need to use antifreeze flush it out of the system as soon as you can. I dont Know why manufacturers insist on using antifreeze maybe so they can sell more spare parts!

funny but thats the reason that the service schedule sppecifies that you have to drain flush and refil the system... and lo, so does the tectalloy coolant...

oh BTW... tectalloy coolant is ethyl glycol based. at least the stuff we use at work is...

their flushing agent is good value tho.
