Hooray I've found the oil leak and other things- NOW with pics

I've had a pesky oil leak that drips down the oil filter on the V8 and assumed it was coming from the filter.
Now since I have the flywheel off the back I was underneath looking to the front of the engine and had a clear view of the rear of the filter ( Serpentine belt oil pump model) and there was a nice trail of oil coming from the oil pressure valves. So looks like another job for Buster to replace the "O ring.
It has taken years to finally find this, after degreasing and looking for sources.A different angle makes all the difference.
I also had a clear view of the rear of the left head and noticed there are flimsy black wires attached to the head by a bolt. One of those wires had broken off. So obviously an earth for something. Looks like another job for Buster So it pays to have a real good look around when you can get access for potential problems.

It also appears access to the starter motor bolts is easier when the exhaust "Y" pipe is removed.
The culprit 1. The oil pressure valve, a neat trail of oil coming from it.

Culprit number 2. This "welsh plug thing, oil is seeping and running down as seen in pics. This runs down to the rear of the filter then runs toward the front of the filter where the air flow blows it all over the diff etc.

nothing leaking from the top 'welsh plug'

Found seepage from the rear main bearing "T" seals, that annoying oil seep, pressed in the "T"seals with my finger and oil would show.

and the broken Earth wire I found whilst I have the flywheel off.
May be it is the problem with my clock not working properly all of a sudden, Stranger things have happened on Land rovers

Hi there, I have the same oil dripping off the filter problem, i replaced the o-ring in the oil pressure relief valve just yesterday, looked today and oil was coming down the filter again.
What other oil pressure valves are there, or where can you see the oil trail from
    Thanks Luke

Check your oil pressure sender, they can leak and oil runs down, a leak on the head gasket, rocker cover or a leak from the oil cooler pipe near the filter.
I just noticed mine as I had a clear view to behind the filter, which is impossible otherwise from under the vehicle.

    Thanks ,
but have checked all those out already which lead me to believe it was a crook o-ring from the oil pressure relief valve, replaced but oil still coming from somewhere.
Side of the block is completely dry and nothing running down the oil lines from radiator, although might try some new o-rings on the oil lines at the engine

could be the valley cover gasket, i replaced a couple of oil switches before i found this was the cause.

On the oil pump housing there is also a 'welsh plug', it's about the size of a 1 cent piece, I don't know what it's for, but may be it's leaking from there.

Be careful if replacing the hose "O Rings" I nipped mine up a bit tight and cracked the alloy and had to replace the timing case cover.

Well, i nipped these ends up a little more before reading this but not to much and bingo no more oil running down the filter.
Been on 2 decent drives and all is dry.

Very happy after the barstard of a time i had changing the o-ring in the relief pressure valve.
Those who have changed it will know what im talking about!!
