Question weird clutch in disco v8 2000

have a series 2 disco manual v8. some mornings when i first get in car the clutch pedal is on the floor . hook it up with back of the foot and it seems fine . have noticed that it never quite returns completely to top when you take your foot off . seems on a hot day the clutch only just engages when the pedal is to the floor . other days it works in the fist few inches . any ideas would be appreciated its got 189000 on it had the disco 2 years its always been a bit suss but hasnt lost or used any fluid in resovoir in this time . maybe it has dropped a couple a mil below the full line but that would be expected i think as the plate wears a bit like to get this sorted if i can

Failed internal seals on the master piston, or some corrosion in the bore (Brake fluid is hygroscopic after all) (?) That would account for the dropped pedal overnight as fluid slowly seeps back to the resevoir under the weight of the pedal. That would also explain why on hot days (metal cylinder expands but rubber doesn't - well not as much) there is a change in pedal travel.

Give it a set of new seals (Both master and slave) a hone and a clean. Clutch cylinders don't have to be as perfect as brake components, so maybe just a clean up with emery paper might suffice to smooth out any corroded areas or ridges.

The issue is most likely to be in the pedal end,ie master cylinder. Its re-cycling the fluid past a failed/failing seal hence no loss of fluid from the system,if the issue was in the slave it would leak and loose fluid.
Its best to replace BOTH,in most cases the other fails soon after.
    Easy enough DIY job.

    Smile thanks 4 the info

my rave cd has nothing about clutch in it at all that i can find . no info on manual gear box either . i would love to get hold of a easy to read step by step repair guide for boof heads like a gregorys or haines make that would be great . can you lads give me a quick run down on how to remove the master cylinder and also bleed it on fitting . because its a shared resovoir with brakes will i need to bleed each wheel as well as the clutch . not a lot of experience with clutch done work on brakes before . any advice would be appreciated thanks
