Exclamation Diesel Powerchips.... alternative brands please

Are there any alternatives to the DPchip or Steinbauer chip. At $1495.00 and $1410.00(Australian prices) respectively, I calculate that it will take seven and a half years for me to get my money back on the savings I would supposedly make. Is ther a cheaper alternative that anyone has personally used that is in a cheaper price bracket??
It cost $845.00 all up for a module/chip for a motorbike with a custom remap on done on a dyno.
How can they justify the prices of powerchips for diesel motors with generic remaps on them??

Get your money back on what?

Generally no savings to be made remapping.... Economy doesnt usually alter, or if anything decreases just slightly...

    Just comparing......

Dyno tune motorbike with a PowerCommander...

    Unit - $500
    Dynotime - $300
Software / Hardware to do the job (minus Dyno and Sniffer) - $100

Works with all Powercommander units.... So wider service base...

    Tune Diesel Turbo...
    Dynotime - $300.00
    Hardware Programmer / Interface - $2000 -> $20,000
    Mapping manipulation software - $500
    EGT gauge - $500
Decrypt vehicle specific CanBus protection is required. (Later Canbus vehicles)

Service base limited by vehicle models etc... Must purchase additional equipment for different vehicles types/models/manufacturers.

And this excludes buying a Dyno and all associated equipment.

    BUT........

What model / spec vehicle are you looking at upgrading?

Clip on / plug in solutions arent the way to go...
