back up my math/ confirm some numbers

Im in the middle of test and tuning on the new landy. 3.5l v8 with the twin 175cd strommies and points in a series landy pushing an lt95 with what Im assuming is 3.54:1 diffs and 7.50R16 rubber

my test track was 30Km (29.97 on the gps track log) all city cycle

on refuel after the test run I burnt 4ish (3.9something) liters of fuel (paint marked the servos floor and filled up to the brim of the filler before and after)

lets call that 4l/30KM

I crank that out to be 7.5k/l and 13.3l/100Km

Now unless my maths is wrong, the GPS is lying, the pumps under reading or my memory is a lot worse than I suspect.

isn't 13.something l/100 ment to be about as good as the 3.5l does on highway cycle ?

I think you have a bubble in the tank.
Stand on bumper , jump up and down 20 times and try again.

20 mpg. Don't complain. You will never get better from one of these. 15-16 mpg is the norm, less if you are pushing hard or towing.

Edit 21.2mpg. 62.15 miles/ 2.93 gallons.

Don't touch anything. Keep self-appointed experts away from the CD carbs. Use physical violence or firearms if necessary.

That's actually 21.2MPG by my calculations (2.82 / 13.33 * 100), so pretty amazing.

My old 3.9 was lucky to get better than 16 - 18 MPG even in the best conditions. Around town I couldn't bring myself to calculate the consumption as I'd probably end up crying

Dave I have a Stage 1 V8 so very similar setup
The figures you quote are the same as the best I have ever had
Must admit I had to drive pretty steady to do that I usually expect less than that.

I'm getting similar fuel usage on my recently rebuilt Series 3 Stage 1.

Same motor, same tyres.

dreamers. I'd say 18l/100 around town would be more usual, and you MIGHT get under 15 if you really tried hard, but 13 ... dreaming.

Unless ... SWB or LWB? and how much stopping? Iff swb with constant running, that would be right.

EDIT - and also depending on the LT95. What was it out of? 70's Rangie at 1:1? Stage 1 at 1:67:1?

Those figures seem brilliant. I have never been able to get that put of my 110 V8 flatdeck. It has the same carbs but its five speed. You must be much better at setting them up than me as the best I can do is 16-18 around town but I have had the same results as you on a long run.

One thing I have noticed is that often when I fill up after a short trip and calculate the consumption it seems to be economical up around 18-20. If I run the tank low before a fill up and calculate the consumption it is almost always exactly same at 16-18 to the gallon. So is keeping the tank brimmed all the time doing something like helpful like keeping the fuel cooler maybe. probably in my head.
