    Defender 300tdi fan pulley problem

    Hello fellow Enthusiasts.

After 300 000Km, 3 of the 4 8mm bolts holding the fan pulley have dissapeared. On closer inspection the fan pulley adaptor boss behind the pulley is broken at the three bolt points.

Question 1. How can you remove the fan when the special tool designed for the job has no leverage point because the bolts have gone?

Question 2. Where would i get a new adaptor boss?

    Thanks out there Robbo D..

have a look at this thread

    - youll see that with some poke-jiggery you can use the guts and hub (boss) from an EA/EB/ED falcon waterpump which will sort your problems.

    - in regards to the removal. As the boss is interference fir to the shaft and with one bolt the pulley will be located and not spinning, you should be able to remove fan easily enough... it is reverse threaded on a 300tdi eh. Sometime you will need to apply extra belt tension to stop the pulley slipping, just lean a 15mm socket and breaker bar on the pivot tensioner bearing to apply more belt pressure and then unspin fan???

Use a rubber mallet and hit the fan spanner clockwise
