First thing to do is get a test light and make sure it is earthed and working by trying it on your battery. Next, with your globe removed and lights on low beam probe the plug and see if you have power. Do the same with high beam.
If you have power to the pins it means you have a bad earth which is what I suspect could be the problem.

Both left and right lights are powered from the same place, so it sounds like a problem with the wiring going to that light - faulty wire, or connection. Don't forget the earth wire and it's connections, even though it is common for both high and low beam (it wont be the sole problem, but may be contributing).
Edit: Land Rover don't use relays for the headlights. Fitting relays for the lights is a good investment - Traxide Tronics who support this forum and members, advertise at the top of page, and make a very good relay upgrade - I am just a happy customer.
