One trick is to machine off a few thou
and apply a layer of weld to build it up
That will shrink the collar
and machine to size
works with sloppy yolks on the diff too
been doing it for years no problems .....Mark
A little advice and/or reassurance, am replacing the bearing on the front inner halfshaft and find that the new collar is not a tolerance fit. It slips easily on and can be removed as easily.
The engineering answer is to get another collar with the correct tolerance.
Given that the bearing actually can slide in and out of the inner race and one of the purposes for the collar is for the oil seal. Would others feel that using a bearing mount solution would be acceptable for a vehicle that will not do large distances? Or should we try to get collars from alternate suppliers?

I may have to take a drive up to your place and you can show me![]()
My other option is to get the micrometer out and check if our S1 rear axle collars are any good for a SIIB ENV front?

I think i might have 2 new S 1 collars somewhere
and probly a few S/H ones in the clutter.......
selective fit, Pain in the bum..........Mark
I would presume that ENV collars would be larger than series ones
I would have to see if i had some round bar to make a tapered mandrell to machine one. Not a 10 minitue job but do able............
Actually SIII swivels are the SIIA forward control part and the bearings, seal and supposedly the collar are all the same. The difference is that the shaft doesn't taper and the OD of the ENV spline are about 0.005 - 0.010" clearance so your S1 or SII may fit.

I'm not sure we are on the same page.![]()
I measured the OD of the shaft with my metric / 1/128 imp micrometer and I get 34.85 mm or 1.250" what am I doing wrong?
Addit: Yes I am stoopid! That or I need new specticals!
I read it wrong 1 6/16" but still 34.85mm so I calculate it to be 1.375", I'll give you a ring.
Are you home today?
