    Army style roof removal.

Hi all. I have an 85 110 hardtop and am wanting to remove the roof and sides. Does anyone know where in Qld I could have this kind of work done? I have contacted the Department of Transport and they said this kind of conversion falls into a grey area, but they would require a mod plate and engineering stuff. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Dave (Cairns FNQ)

I think you will find it bolts together like a meccano set, so anyone who can turn their hand at spanner work should be able to remove the bits you want to get rid of.

Motor vehicle engineers (yellow pages) should be able to give you the necessary paperwork.

The actual removal is about an hour with a set of spanners (and a second set of hands to lift it off). The legal problem is that the hardtop includes the top seatbelt mounts. You would need to find a satisfactory solution to this with an approved engineer.

There are two Engineers that I know of in the region, one of which goes to Cairns on a regular basis. It may be worth a call to gain the answers. If you want their names and number please PM me and I will forward them to you.
