    Arnott Air Bags

Hi all, as some of you may have read, I have had both my D2 Arnott Air Bags fail at the top retaining point. (That is leaking not a catastrophic bang)

Arnott were very good and mailed out a replacement set which I received on Friday. I fitted them today and leak checked them.
They flamin well leak as well in the same place!!!!!

Has anyone else had to replace Arnott bags?

I have emailed Arnott just now with a fresh set of pictures and have asked for a refund.

If you are running the arnott bags may I suggest you check the top retention ring area with soapy water and wait 5 minutes.
I never really new I had a problem with mine until I parked it for few days and noticed the tell tale sag.

    Ill keep you posted
    cheers

    Thats interesting.

I'm sure Tusker said when he was looking to go full air suspension that the shop that he went to didn't deal with Arnotts because there were too many problems.

    Firestone was their final word.
    Cheers

That type of retention system, which Arnott use is not the most reliable. The method of crimping over a bead that Firestone use, has proven much better.

Had the same trouble with Arnotts bags on my classic. The Firestone ones are good but The Airbagman in your state will also have Dunlop OE replacements.
The Arnotts seal rings wear mainly on the top cones and go quite hard loosing the seal and also it's holding strength. I had mine come off a couple of times and once in the sand dunes leaving me with sand in the bellows. Had to remove the whole bag and clean it out while still on the track.
the Arnotts bags also suffer badly from memory effect and once this happens, the ability for it to unroll from it's normal rolled position is what causes them to pull on the top cone wearing out the seal.
The OE units will seem like they don't fit when you first get them and can be hard to pull on even with soapy water, but once inflated will expand out.
Definitely ask for your money back and make sure they pay your freight costs for sending them back, all of them!

    Cheers

Well,an update on my SLS air bags.
Again Arnott have delivered exceptional service and another new set of bags . No refund available as it has been longer than 90 days.
I wont be able to tell you all how these ones are because they will never be fitted to my D2. These will go unopened on Ebay.
I have purchased som Dunlop bags from Paddock Spares in the UK ($322 AUD pair landed in Oz at my door) which will be going in this weekend.

Unfortunately after 4 out of 4 brand new bags leaking due to poor assembly practice has ensured my lack of faith in their ability to keep my truck suspended under normal conditions let alone fully loaded and off road.
The warranty is great but unhelpful when stuck on the side of the road on the bumpstops. I will not risk being stuck remotely because of these. Sad because the company is excellent to deal with.

    Cheers

Its generally a way of admitting there is a problem without admitting there's a problem!
With the service aspect, shame as most places with good products give rubbish service due to the fact they think their product is so good its unthinkable that there would ever be a problem!

    Goodluck with it!

    Cheers
