Alternator RRC
Hi all
Question regarding the alternator on my RRC
Recently my rangie has been draining the batteries whilst turned off.. It takes about 2-3 days for both batteries to flatten. When I jump start it the alternator is putting out over 14 volts and charges great. If I drive everyday its fine.
I thought it was the cranking battery so I replaced with a new one. Didn't make a difference.
I disconnected the alternator yesterday morning and looks as if the drain has stopped.. so thinking one of the diodes is stuffed which keeps the charging circuit on when engine is off.. Has anyone had this problem?
Anyways my main question is my local auto electrical guy said you cannot rebuild the standard type alternators from RRC's
Is this true?
Cheers
