    1997 Defender 130 Extra Cab-Electrical peculiars

Bought the above mentioned vehicle about 3 months ago from Coffs Harbour. Have supposedly 'downgraded' from a 1999 TD5 Defender xtreme...but that is definitely not how I see it!! This has done 100,000 less k'ms, has got heaps more grunt and pulling power, and does about 180 more k'ms per tank of juice (same size tank too), it has no computer and I can work on the engine a lot better than the xtreme, much neater inside and so on!!!
Anyhow the only probs I have had with it so far is to do with electricals. When I bought it the car yard were having trouble getting the air conditioning working, but got it going fine, about two weeks ago I went to use it and there was absolutely nothing...checked fuses, all ok, checked connections and everything seems fine. Can anyone throw me anymore suggestions, are all the fuses mounted in the same place?
The Hazards dont work...BUT when I switch them on the indicators stop working completely!!??? What would be causing this??
Lastly, one of the tail lights doesnt work, checked the connection and bulb...where else can I look for this problem?
Defintely last....the rear wheels have no caps on them and grease is flying everywhere...I have been told that come off easily. Does anyone know of some that saty on..and where do you get them from??? Cheers

Axle caps cost about nothing each and you should be able to get them anywhere that sells Land Rover bits.

Sorry can't help with the electrics

But with those axle caps it pays to get genuine as they are a rubber compound rather than the cheaper after market jobbies. The aftermarket are a hard plastic and are a ***** to get on

If you don't mind what material they are made from, I may have some spare (hard plastic ones) in the shed somewhere that you can have if you pay postage

I don't need them anymore because I have the Maxidrive flanges

I'll have to look I think I have some...

    Send me a PM

the hazard light switch is clapped, get a new one and providing the indicator stalk is ok that'll sort that issue.

The blower fan control is linked to the other aircon settings if the fan doesnt get powered up the rest of the aircon remains off to prevent potential damage check the switch pack and the earthing to the motor and aircon relays.
