Looks like it may well be the goods, and it comes from my old stomping ground too... Milton Keynes!!
Might have to look at this. I looked for the NAS unit ages ago but had no luck finding one.

well mate ..so do you think might be all good ?....the way I'm thinking is it may well save me a lot of head ache in that i will cost $65
to have the faults read at the shop in the first place ...seems if this one can do the job its money well spent yhea?

I've fitted the factory code reader from the USA RRC. I did so after reading about PhilipA doing it. Cost me $16 posted within the USA and a relative brought it home with them.

Keep in mind that it is not plug and play. The Aussie models do not have the pins or wires for the code reader in the ECU connector so you have to fit them.
Easy enough to do and if you search you will find PhilipA's tutorial.

Also keep in mind that a lot of the fault codes rely on the oxygen sensors being fitted in the exhaust.

I'm not going to place in new O2 senses at 127 each so ...the exhaust is on the way out anyway prob need one in a few months tho....the link Andrew provided has a tut on install, so looks good ..can you give me a link to one you got a hold of would make it all much easier to diagnose

Not much in that one though.

The oxy sensor fitting project was actually a pdf. I have it somewhere but not on this hdd. PM PhilipA as he wrote it.

I posted a few Disco1 specific photos in a thread somewhere as the project pdf is for a RRC and the ECU is in a different spot.
The sensors were about $100 for the pair new from USA ebay.

A mate of mine just uses a volt meter with the probes pushed into the diagnostic pins. It gives voltage or something that relates to the fault. Sorry I don't know anymore than that.

There is a set of tests in the manual to diagnose 14CUX problems. its a matter of working through the tests.
